The garden is part of the historic complex of the 17th-century Villa Maffei Sigurtà, located in Valeggio sul Mincio (Verona). The park has undergone several transformations over the years but still stands out for the coexistence of the natural style of the “English garden” and the formality of the “Italian garden.” In addition to the restoration and enhancement of existing plant species the project has included a panoramic path, a belvedere, a guest house set within the park, a linear fountain, and a new viewpoint above the northern Ninfeo pools. All these elements represent a sequence of contemporary interventions that create a new dialogue with the natural surroundings and offer new glimpses of the park.
The elements of the vegetation with their colors, textures and seasonality, represent the main features of the project, complemented by traditional materials such as stone and wood for the architectural interventions. The lighting design is also important, providing an additional interpretation of the park during the nighttime hours.
